Businesses looking to determine if they are eligible to reopen can now use the New York Forward Business Reopening Lookup Tool which can be found here. A few points on this tool:
  • This online tool will help businesses determine whether or not they are eligible to reopen, and the public health and safety standards with which they must comply.
  • To use the tool, start by selecting your county, and then your industry / NAICS Code.
  • This online tool will be updated regularly as guidance evolves.

NYS Issues Detailed Guidance for Phase One Reopening

NYS has released detailed guidelines for a phased reopening of businesses. The Interim Guidance consists of specific guidelines for businesses opening in
Phase 1:
  • Construction
  • Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Hunting
  • Retail – (Limited to curbside or in-store pickup or drop off)
  • Manufacturing
  • Wholesale Trade

The guidance provides more specificity on the businesses that are included in the five general business categories above. There is documentation on mandatory guidelines and recommended best practices by industry for employers and employees. The State has also made available a business reopening safety plan template to guide business owners and operators in developing plans to protect against the spread of COVID-19.

As a reminder, Westchester County, which is part of the Mid-Hudson region, has attained 5 of the 7 milestones for reopening as of 5/21/20. The phased reopening of non-essential business will be permitted once the region has attained all 7 milestones.

See the Regional Monitoring Dashboard for the latest assessment.
