New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital

New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital, a member of the New York Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network, has a long and important history of providing exemplary health care to residents of the Hudson Valley and Northern Westchester County, and was the first in the region to achieve Magnet status for nursing excellence and innovation. In collaboration with New York Presbyterian and Columbia Doctors, the faculty practice of Columbia University Medical Center, New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital provides easy access to world-renowned specialists and offers a wide range of ambulatory and inpatient services, including cancer, obstetrics, wound care, physical and occupational rehabilitation and many other specialties, and continues to expand programs and resources for patients. The 128-bed hospital is home to the regions first “no wait” Emergency Department, which provides 24-hour emerency care and sees approximately 40,000 visits annually, among the highest volume in Westchester. More than 900 babies are delivered here each year. The American Heart Association, as well as the State of New York, has recognized NYP/Hudson Valley Hospital as a leader in stroke care. The hospital also has received prestigious awards from The Joint Commission and Press Ganey, and is a redesignated NICHE facility with “Exemplar” status for it’s geriatric-friendly care. In addition to incorporating nutrition education into medical care plans, the hospital is actively involved in a host of community outreach programs that provide ways to learn more about managing good health through diet and lifestyle changes. Our health fairs feature free screenings for heart and lung health; public access to fresh local and organic produce is provided bimonthly May to November through Farmer’s Markets in our main lobby; and cooking classes for all ages and levels of experience are held at the Chef Peter X. Kelly Teaching Kitchen, adjacent to the hospital in the historic Dempsey House, which also features an on site organic garden.
